DWYER CALLS FOR A BETTER DEAL

- TONY RAGGATT

TOWNSVILLE economist and media commentator Colin Dwyer has published a book drawing on his passion for arguing the case for a better deal for North Queensland.

It is called Our Fair Share, a phrase he says he coined but later became a common term used by politicians and others.

The book is a collection of his essays from 2007 to 2015, including some published in the Townsville Bulletin.

Profits from the book will go to local sporting clubs.

Mr Dwyer said that the book was a story about regional economic success, regional social struggle and a historical guide to contemporary positive influence on southern decision makers.

“I’ve been persevering in public domain economics and politics, with good success, and it’s because I’ve added a unique style commenting on public investment and jobs,” Mr Dwyer said.

“From this advocacy, I developed the slogan Our Fair Share and developed a new way of expressing a feeling many people had about the lack of state public investment.

“This book is a collection of my best essays printed from 2007 to 2015.

“It also adds more background to the method of my Our Fair Share formula.”

Mr Dwyer said that he was working on another two volumes of Our Fair Share and an Our Fair Share children’s fable called Colin and the Pumpkin Bandits.

His advocacy continues on home insurance, the

Bruce Highway, decentralisation and public investment.
