Finding new site was ‘meant to be’ Room for a growing TOT

- TONY RAGGATT

IT was as if the move was meant to be for a growing Townsville allied health practice.

Townsville Occupational Therapy Service has relocated to a former residential home converted into professional offices in Mundingburra.

TOTS director and occupational therapist Nicole Brown said she almost bought the property when she first launched the practice about seven years ago.

But at the time she opted for something a little smaller and easier on the budget.

Now having expanded to a team of five therapists, and where COVID-19 appears to have helped rather than hindered the business, they needed something bigger and better. Just as Ms Brown started her search, this same property at the corner of Burdekin Street and Ross River Road came on the market for lease.

“We needed a bigger space and this became available. It was meant to be,” Ms Brown said.

She said their client families were happy for the extra space and the practice now had a staffroom where they could prepare and have lunch.

“We are all happy,” Ms Brown said.

The practice worked primarily with children and had a philosophy of engage, participate and achieve.

“We believe that if you can engage in an activity or occupation and you can participate in that activity then you can achieve your goal,” Ms Brown said.

Colliers International leasing executive Ben Wheeler said the property was ideal for TOTS.

It came with a fit-out already in place and was well positioned in a central location with on-site carparking.

“Being a corner site on one of Townsville’s busiest main roads was also a major plus.” Mr Wheeler said.

“It now provides great exposure and will potentially attract new clients to the business.”

It features full ducted airconditioning, a large reception and waiting area, multiple office spaces, a kitchen and lunch room, a disability toilet and shower, has wheelchair accessibility and a covered outdoor entertaining area.
