Labor’s changes to youth justice system won’t help

- BRETT WILLIAM GEISZLER, Kirwan

SO Mr Harper, you have still blocked me from commenting on your Facebook page.

Your post of February 25 still quotes reoffending rates in an argument against breach of bail as an offence and includes a not even veiled attempt at a swipe at the opposition.

You didn’t even bother to read my previous explanation to you of why breach of bail as an offence is absolutely critical right now did you?

It is plainly obvious from your post that you really are oblivious to what it is going to take to even begin to fix the problem position your government has put us in.

Yes, that’s right Mr Harper, we, as a Townsville society, are in this position directly because of the changes you have been instrumental in making to our youth justice system.

Even the recent deaths involving stolen cars aren’t enough to wake you up from your slumber.

It really is disgraceful.

Not only do you not have the guts to fight for us as your constituents, you dare to continue to shout that the smoke and mirror reforms your government has put forward will make a difference.

If you were honest you would very well admit you know that they won’t.

You should hang your head in shame.

EACH week Inspire will throw the spotlight on one of our many great schools across Townsville as part of a new special feature.

School of the Week will showcase students both inside and outside the classroom as they grow, learn and develop.

The segment will give local schools the opportunity to showcase what makes their student and school community unique.

Schools are invited to send in photos of their students, whether they are taking part in special events or everyday activities.
