GPS tracker makes man late for court

-

A BOWEN man was more than an hour late for his Supreme Court appearance on Friday because his GPS tracker prevented him from leaving his home.

Anthony John Roberts fronted the Townsville Supreme Court charged with two offences of unlawful possession of a dangerous drug and pleaded not guilty.

The court heard Roberts was prevented from leaving Bowen before 7am as part of a bail condition preventing him from leaving his house until that time. Roberts was scheduled to be arraigned at 9am but did not appear until 10.30.

His barrister, Michael Hibble, said his client had “made his way as quickly as possible”.

Robberts was arraigned and will reappear in court on May 21. Bail was enlarged.
