Bringing back 90s musical

KIRWAN State High School students and staff will bring Popstars! The 90s Musical to the Townsville Civic Theatre from May 27-29.

From the creator of Back to the 80s, Popstars will have Kirwan High students singing and dancing to classic 90s hits from Britney Spears, The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and more in a girl band v boy band comedy.

Playing the role of talented singer Charlie Jones, school captain Molly Gardner says she’s looking forward to bringing some classic songs to the stage for the audience to enjoy.

“The musical is an amazing opportunity to do a lead role with my friends and make new friends as well,” Molly said.

“I think you can just bop along to the songs, they’re all the hits from the 90s and it’s really enjoyable and easy watching.”

Kirwan High’s musical is a highlight on the school and wider community’s calendar, and dance teacher-turned-director Dana Schiefelbein has loved every minute of this year’s musical.
