PARTNERS READY TO ROAR
STATE of Origin is heading north and no one is more excited than the NRLobsessed Townsville locals.
But it’s an even bigger deal for the wives and girlfriends of longtime Cowboys players and Origin hopefuls who could be given the opportunity to play in the Maroon jersey on their home field for the first time ever.
Taylor Brunton, 24, and Deeana
Feldt, 28, are in the unique position where they could be watching their partners play in NRL’S biggest game of the year in their hometown.
Taylor’s partner is Cowboys golden boy Coen Hess while Deeana just recently tied the knot with her longtime partner Kyle Feldt.
For Taylor, having Origin in Townsville will be special for so many reasons including giving Coen some “well deserved confidence” if he makes the playing side.
“I’m a Townsville girl, so it’s going to be a surreal feeling to showcase this city with pride. I’m excited for the city to get behind the Maroon boys and cheer them on,” she said.
“We are all super proud of Coen. Making the origin squad is really special to him and I couldn’t be happier for him.”
Meanwhile, for Deeana, this will not only be her first Origin but potentially Kyle’s first Origin as well.
“Having had the opportunity to play last year and making the decision to pull out of the team was a hard one for him but is so true to his character in always wanting to give 100% and this year he has worked really hard and I couldn’t be more proud he has been given the opportunity to be part of the squad,” she said. “I’m sure all of the guys in the team are so proud to represent Queensland.”
