Walker’s matter in court
MUNDINGBURRA MP Les Walker’s matter has been mentioned in a Townsville court.
Mr Walker is facing a charge of common assault in a public place while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, and drunk or disorderly in a premises to which a permit or licence relates.
His appearance on Friday was excused. The charges relate to the alleged July 30 assault of a 39year-old man outside a Palmer St pub.
In court, Mr Walker’s lawyer told Magistrate Viviana Keegan the matter was subject to case conferencing.
The lawyer said he’d hoped the prosecution might have considered it by Friday, but they had not had the opportunity to do so.
Ms Keegan adjourned the matter for one week to September 3, for further mention.
Mr Walker’s appearance at the next mention was excused.
