Drunk man blows .220
STEFAN Carl Dick pleaded guilty to driving an uninsured vehicle, driving without a licence and driving under the influence of alcohol.
On July 23, at 12.40am, police saw a green Mitsubishi with no registration plates driving along Burnda St.
The car mounted the gutter and stopped on the footpath.
Checks revealed the car had been unregistered since 2019, was also uninsured, and Dick was unlicensed.
He told police he had been “out for a cruise” with his uncle.
A breath test revealed a blood alcohol reading of .220.
Dick said he’d had at least “10 decent cups of cask wine”.
Dick’s defence lawyer said he had asked to borrow the car, and had not been aware it was uninsured or unregistered.
Magistrate Ken Taylor fined Dick a total of $2760 and disqualified him for 16 months.
