Mahogany Row (4) for Brad Belford ran second in a steward’s trial on Friday. The former southern runner has wins at Gawler, Albion Park and Ipswich and is in contention as the second favourite here.

Race 6 is the Townsville Cup Prelude over 498m, with several contenders in the mix.

Excuse Me Jack (6) for Harold Hovi is hitting his peak at the right time with strong wins and placings over the distance.

Belford has a good time of 28.63, and this fellow will be the danger in the race.
