ACTORS SERVING UP BLOODY GOOD TIME
BLOOD will flow and Queens Gardens will be plunged into murder, mayhem and madness when Shakespeare Under the Stars returns in early September.
The setting is Blood will be Blood, the final part of a trilogy in Theatreinq’s epic vision of the Bard’s history plays about the bloody War of the Roses.
In this last instalment Theatreinq’s artistic director Terri Brabon has masterfully adapted Richard III and Henry VI Part III to create a virulent clash of feuding families, sibling rivalry, and the lure of the crown and the wrath of the heavens.
Actor James Tomasson grew up in Rollingstone before following his passion for performance to Sydney.
Returning to his roots he plays the Earl of Richmond, who later becomes Henry the Seventh and founder of the Tudor dynasty.
He said this thrilling production depicts the House of Lancaster led by Queen Margaret pitted against the House of York, led by the Duke and his three sons Richard, Edward, and Clarence.
“It is a really exciting story about these warring families who have caused decades of tumult in England and the country is decaying,” Mr Tomasson said.
“But it is a great show about the repercussion of family feuds and power shifts.”
He said even if someone had not seen the previous two parts of the trilogy Blood will be Blood was still a stand-alone performance.
“This adaptation by Terri Brabon is such high quality that even if you come along for this one show you will be able to get everything.
“It is very exciting and there are a lot of echoes from earlier productions this year from the War of the Roses but in itself it is a very thrilling show.”
He said seating for this year’s Shakespeare Under the Stars would be different.
“Seating will be different this year, more of a picnic experience so bring your picnic blankets along and your snacks it is going to be a very fun night.”
