“Arrangements are being made to cover his absence from parliament this week,” Mr Rockliff said.

An update will be provided later this week on the premier’s health and when he will return to work.

Mr Gutwein, 56, has had a taxing 18 months after being elevated to the position of premier in January 2020 after the resignation of his predecessor Will Hodgman.

In addition to the pandemic, he has also had the election campaign and handed down the state budget last week.
