Suicide support seminar

LOOKING to get on the front foot to discuss the tragic societal issue of suicide, Morleys Funerals will soon hold a community seminar called Ending The Silence Around Suicide.

The issue is especially critical in Townsville after a 2016 report by the Townsville Suicide Prevention Network identified that the city’s suicide rate was 2.5 times the national average.

The free seminar will feature guest speaker Suzy Dormer, a local psychologist and Geoff and Lowell Bamber from the Survivors of Suicide Bereavement Support Association.

Morleys Funerals assistant manager Larry Newman has organised community seminars at Morleys since their inception in 1999.

The seminar will take place at The Lakes Chapel, Morleys Funeral Home on Monday, September 13 at 7pm.
