Truckies driving protests

TRUCK drivers and “prochoice” protesters from around the country gathered outside council chambers and parliament houses and blocked major roads on Tuesday morning as a sign of defiance against vaccine and testing mandates.

Protests have been organised for dozens of locations in all states and territories, borne out of a fury towards mandatory vaccinations for authorised workers – including truck drivers – from 12 local government areas in the Sydney area.

In addition, essential workers travelling into Queensland are also now required to have had at least one dose of the vaccine.

Around the country, truck drivers must be tested for Covid-19 regularly.

One of the figureheads of the campaign, Brock, took to Tiktok on Tuesday morning to encourage people – whether they drive a truck or not – to support the protest.

“Today’s the big one, and we’re going to kill it. I know we will,” he said.

“It’s all about people’s freedom.”

Tuesday’s protests come a day after trucks caused peakhour chaos on the Gold Coast after blocking an exit.

Senator Pauline Hanson, who had been in attendance to support the movement, had to ask the truck drivers to move on.
