Long wait for a drink

LOCKDOWN is putting a major strain on alcohol delivery services in NSW, with wait times now out to 10 days.

The rising demand for alcohol is causing headaches for liquor giant Dan Murphy’s, which has become Australia’s biggest online bottle shop and is struggling to keep up with the number of thirsty customers jumping in virtual queues.

The Dan Murphy’s website issued a banner notice to online customers on Monday night that warned standard delivery in NSW may take up to 10 days due to the current Covid order volume.

“There have been delays by a day or two because of … lockdown,” a spokesman said.
