Park swings shut for works
THE hugely popular Ingham Rotary Park playground will be closed until Friday, for the first stage of the shade-structure installation.
In a statement, the Hinchinbrook Shire Council said the playground would be closed for a maximum of five days during stage one to allow for footing installation on the outside of the fenced area by Urban Play.
Once footings were installed, the playground would reopen until October when it would again be closed for several weeks to allow for the final installation of the new shade structure.
“Council thanks the community for your co-operation during these works and promises the outcome will be worth the wait,” the statement reads.
“Do not forget, the Adventure Playground located in the TYTO Parklands is open and available to all members of the public to enjoy.”
The installation of the Rotary Park playground (pictured) shade structure was funded under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
NEW SIGNS CELEBRATE ROTARY CENTENARY
NEW signs have been installed in several public parks in Ingham to help celebrate 100 years of Rotary International in Australia.
The Rotary Club of Hinchinbrook partnered with Council to install new signs in Rotary Park, Interact Park and Rotaract Park.
Hinchinbrook Rotary Club president Andrew Cripps said
Rotary was proud of its historical association with Ingham’s public recreational areas.
“This year Rotary is celebrating its centenary in Australia and our club wanted to do something to mark this important anniversary,” Mr Cripps said.
“Last year, we included replacing, updating and installing new signs in these parks in our club plan, to modernise our local Rotary message.
“Council was already doing capital works in Rotary Park, so it was a great opportunity to add value to an important local project.”
Mr Cripps said the Rotary Club of Hinchinbrook was proud to be an active community service organisation in the Hinchinbrook Shire.
“The new signs include current information about our club and have been manufactured to be consistent with council’s corporate style guide,” he said.
“We are very pleased to have had the opportunity to work with the council on this project and we thank council for its efforts.”
Mr Cripps said the Hinchinbrook Rotary Club always welcomed new members.
