Our historic schoolboys

TOWNSVILLE has broken a 20-year record, with four players selected in the Australian Schoolboys Merit squad.

Aaron Payne Cup grand finallists Ragsy Wavik and Dudley Dotoi have been joined in the 17-man squad by Ignatius Park duo Luke Jack and Thomas Duffy.

It is the first time the city has had four players picked in the national schoolboys side since 2001.

Luke Harlen, Trevor Bowman, Ashley Alberts and Stephen Goodhew all represented Kirwan High in the Australian side that year.

Kirwan has had 18 players selected for Australia and Ignatius Park five in history.
