PERU BUS HORROR

-

LIMA: Thirty-two passengers died, including two young children, and more than 20 were injured when a bus plummeted from a cliff in Peru – the country’s second multiple-victim bus accident in four days.

The accident happened on a narrow stretch of the Carretera Central road about 60km east of the capital Lima.

Police said “recklessness” contributed to the accident, adding the bus had been travelling “at high speed”. It hit a rock and plunged into an abyss some 200m deep.

Last week, another bus fell into a steep ravine in the country’s southeast, killing 17 people on board.
