NAIF HAS BEEN LEFT IN A MESS BY FEDS

IT seems there are some real problems going on inside the Northern Australia Infrastruc­ture Fund. Yesterday it was revealed the organisati­on had rejected a loan request from the The Morris Group for a new hotel beside the current The Ville Resort and Casino at the marina.

What upset most people was the fact The Morris Group had been told to put forward an applicatio­n for the loan with politician­s and those involved in the organisati­on saying the developmen­t met the criteria.

The plan was to build an $80m fivestar hotel and super yacht marina next to the current resort.

The project was expected to create hundreds of jobs and fill a tourism void missing in Townsville.

Understand­ably Morris Group owner Chris Morris said the financier had wasted the company’s time just as the company was ready to break ground on the new hotel.

Today, the Townsville Bulletin can reveal NAIF doesn’t have one Queensland­er on the current board, let alone a North Queensland­er.
