BURDEKIN TEENAGER NAMED IN AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLBOYS TEAM

-

BURDEKIN Rooster Luke Jack has been named in the 2021 Australian Schoolboys Merit team.

Jack, an 18-year-old middle forward from Ayr, averaged 110 metres and 49 post-contact metres for Townsville in this season’s Mal Meninga Cup.

The Ignatius Park student captained the Blackhawks to a perfect 4-0 regular season and a MMC grand final appearance against the Tweed Heads Seagulls in May.

In order to recognise the best schoolboy rugby league players across the nation, the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Council set about the marathon task of choosing an Australian Schoolboys merit team via a comprehensive and innovative process.

This led to the recognition of 17 outstanding footballers and people, including nine talented Queenslanders who have also featured in the QRL’S Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup.
