Man faces assaulting cop charge

AT 1.30AM on Wednesday, August 25 Ayr Police were called to a disturbance in East Ayr.

A 37-year-old Burdekin man was arrested and police will allege he resisted officers while he was being handcuffed, breaking free then using the handcuffs to strike an officer in the face.

He was charged with serious assault of a police officer causing bodily harm, assaulting police, obstructing structing police and public nuisance and was released on conditional bail to appear in Ayr Magistrates Court on

October 5.
