Brothers warned of danger game against in-form Rebels

- MATTHEW ELKERTON

WITH two rounds to go, the premiership remains just beyond the reach of Brothers who trail MA Olympic by five competition points.

But coach Mark Heath has warned his players can’t focus on the league ladder or they risk having their pants pulled down.

The Brethren enter what has become a danger game this weekend against a resurgent Rebels FC, who remain desperate to punch their ticket to the North Queensland Football finals series.

The return of highly skilled striker Kyran Walters from NPL outfit Mackay Whitsunday has inspired the Rebels attack.

It has also freed up teenage sensation Joel Russell, with the pair having emerged as the most potent one-two punch over the back end of the season.

While Brothers bounced back from a shock loss in the Burdekin by destroying rivals Warriors for the Westhorpe Cup last weekend, Heath is adamant his side cannot get ahead of itself and start thinking about finals in a fortnight.

“I am worried about this weekend,” Heath said.

“It is a big danger game for us. (Rebels) are on a big roll and they are scoring plenty of goals.”

MA Olympic have a chance to seal the premiership, but face off against arguably the form team of the competition in Burdekin.
