SPECIAL FATHER’S DAY GIFT

-

WHEN Ingham mum Bridie Moreton went for her 36week ultrasound scan, she did not expect to be in the labour ward 48 hours later.

Ms Moreton gave birth to her second son Jace at the Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital Townsville, with the baby becoming the perfect Father’s Day gift for dad, Lyle.

Ms Moreton’s scan revealed her placenta was not providing enough nourishment to sustain her baby, which can pose a danger.

“My obstetrician, Dr Kurinji Kannan provided me with education and supported me in my decision to have my baby sooner rather than later,” Ms Moreton said.

“Jace was born a healthy baby boy, weighing 2.2kg, and we’re thrilled he’s here in time for Father’s Day.”

Jace spent his first two days of life in special care, needing extra help to maintain his body temperature.

“He’s doing well now and I’m really looking forward to heading home to celebrate Father’s Day as a family of four,” Ms Moreton said.

“We live near Ingham so my husband Lyle will bring our other boy Kash to the hospital and take us all home to have Father’s Day together. Jace will be his dad’s Father’s Day gift this year – probably the best present he’ll ever get.”
