Frankie aims to turn lights out on rivals

- LEE PEARCE

WHILE trainers prepare for the biggest night of the year on Friday with the Group 3 WESEAL Townsville Cup, some of the up and coming 4/5th grade runners will get their chance to shine at the Townsville Showgrounds on Tuesday night.

Midnight Frankie is expected to be the early frontrunner out of the four box in the Billy Thomas 4/5th Grade over 498m.

The Brad Belford-trained pup has a win and two placings over the journey with a personal best time of 28.82. He will be hard to catch on the bunny.

Yazid Bale (5) for Rhonda Essery raced in the Townsville Cup heats on Friday for a respectable third behind Excuse Me Jack. This race will be much easier and the runner has each-way claims.

Zone In (2) for Paul Smith raced in the Cup Prelude last Tuesday for a third behind Flying Jet.

Half Moon Bay (7) for Brad Belford has had one start for a third over the trip. She will be better for the run while Chinderah Myth (8) for Greta Thomson is having his first look over the distance.

Kennelling for the 11-race meeting closes at 6.30pm with the first race at 7.15pm.
