Wild ride caught on CCTV


A HOON has been slapped with a stack of fines after losing control of his car while trying to do a burnout.

On August 29, CCTV cameras at Mount Isa spotted a man doing burnouts in East St.

The driver lost control of his car and crashed into a tree on the wrong side of the road, but then recovered and quickly drove from the scene.

The 28-year-old man was tracked down by police and fined $899 for his behaviour.

There are substantia­l penalties for committing hooning offences.

If you are caught driving a motor vehicle in a way that makes unnecessar­y noise or smoke, the maximum fine is $2757.

Racing or conducting a speed trial on a public road carries a maximum fine of $5514 or six months in jail.
