NRLW STAR LASHES OUT AT LACK OF ANSWERS

- MATTHEW ELKERTON

NORTH Queensland NRLW star Romy Teitzel has accused the NRL of “forgetting” about players who relocated for the season as she undergoes two weeks of hotel quarantine in Brisbane.

Teitzel spent seven weeks locked down in a two-bedroom apartment in Newcastle after relocating across the border for the season in July.

The Tully product was one of four players from North Queensland who moved to the ‘Steel City’ after they had signed with the new franchise.

But the day they arrived in Newcastle, the players were told the season would be postponed due to the pandemic and they would not be allowed to train with clubs in lockdown.

A week later regional NSW was ordered into lockdown, with Teitzel and her NRLW teammates confined to their apartments. The season was rescheduled for after the NRL grand final on October 3, with players told they would start pre-season on September 1.
