Charters lags on jab rollout
CHARTERS Towers residents are among the top five least vaccinated people by local government area in Queensland.
Only 38.6 per cent of the population aged over 15 has had the first jab and a mere 25.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.
The data is in vast contrast to Goondiwindi where 76.7 per cent of the population aged 15 and up has had at least one of the jabs.
The second most protected LGA is Hinchinbrook covering Ingham.
Townsville Hospital and Health Service chief executive Kieran Keyes said rural communities such as Charters Towers were an important part of the vaccination rollout in the fight against Covid-19 and reducing lockdowns.
