Weekend vaccine sessions

- CAITLAN CHARLES

FAIRFIELD Medical Centre is holding a weekend-long clinic as extra Pfizer doses arrive in North Queensland.

GP Michael Clements said Queensland had been a little behind on the vaccine front, but now the federal government was coming to the table.

Dr Clements said while his Fairfield clinic was hosting a walk-in event on Saturday and Sunday, people should check in with their regular GP to see if they could secure an appointment first.

While walk-ins will be available from 9am-3pm, Dr Clements said people should try to book online with his clinic first. “We won’t be turning anyone away,” Dr Clements said. “There are still hundreds of appointments available.”

He said coupled with the Townsville Hospital and Health Service, everyone in Townsville who wants a vaccination should be able to access them.

Dr Clements said there would also be a vaccine drive on Magnetic Island, with 150 people booked in already.

He said walk-ins were also welcome on the island.
