SKY RACING’S NORTH QUEENSLAND EXPERT MICHAEL CHARGE ANALYSES TODAY’S RACING

-

RACE 5

CLASS 1 HCP (1500M)

Stifling looks well placed in a very even race here despite the horror draw. She drops back significantly in grade and has enough runs on the board to get away with this race.

Forsetti comes to the North and joins the in-form Potiris stable. His NSW form has been extremely solid and he will find racing a touch easier here so must be considered. Cunnamulla may have just needed his first two runs back from a spell and steps up to a more suitable journey here over the 1500m. On the back of a much better run at Mackay last start I must include

Graceful Zarifa into my quaddie calculations.

SELECTIONS 6 Stifling, 4 Forseti, 2 Cunnamulla, 8 Graceful Zarifa

RACE 6 CAIRNS AMATEURS SPRINT

(1400M)

A terrific race with a host of chances,

Langhro has his hoof right on the till and is ready to win; with an ounce of luck I think he can get the job done in a tough race. Doctor Zous is loving his holiday in the North and was very strong in the Cairns Newmarket, he is drawn to get a perfect run in transit here and will be very hard to hold out.

Simply Splashing just got too far out of his ground last start at Townsville. With enough speed on here, he can be one really motoring home late. If

Willygood goes around on the quick back-up from Townsville on

Thursday, she must be considered here.

SELECTIONS 2 Langhro, 1 Doctor Zous, 6 Simply Splashing, 5 Willygood

RACE 7 CAIRNS AMATEURS CUP

(2100M)

Namazu has been a revelation, winning all three Guineas races run at Mackay, Rockhampton and Townsville in scintillating fashion. He had to work hard in the Cairns Cup from a bad draw, but draws better today and will be in this for a long way. Maquereau loves Cairns and was eye-catching closing off smartly in the Cairns Cup. With no weight and the in-form Lacey Morrison on board, he will be hard to beat. Tutelage took his form to a new level in winning the Cairns Cup, although rises 2kg and has a horror draw to contend with if he is to make it back-to-back Cups. I can’t leave out Bullion Wolff and Buster Block. SELECTIONS 11 Namazu, 9 Maquereau, 3 Tutelage, 2 Bullion Wolff, 8 Buster Block

RACE 8 PATRON’S CUP BENCHMARK 60 HCP (1900M)

He’s Wow Class might be able to roll along in front under his own steam for Ryan Wiggins, he’s fit and he is well so he will prove hard to run down. John Booke has been breaking hearts in the North, promising to storm home and win but falling short on every occasion to date, however if there is enough tempo on, he will be one to watch late in the race with some luck. Miss Silky tries hard and in a race that is not overly strong, she gets her chance to be a leading contender here; the 2kg claim helps. Taikun Warrior came North with big wraps and may appreciate getting out to the 1900m journey here.

SELECTIONS 3 He’s Wow Class, 5 John Booke, 2 Miss Silky, 6 Taikun Warrior
