Dad had no time to pay

- KATIE HALL

A YOUNG dad who “couldn’t be bothered” going back to pay for his fuel has been told to “reset” his priorities.

Zain Alec Christian, 26, pleaded guilty in Townsville Magistrates Court to public nuisance, stealing, and breaching a condition of bail. On January 27 2018, Christian dispensed $20 of fuel from a Garbutt petrol station pump.

He told staff he had forgotten his wallet and he’d be back within 30 minutes to pay but never returned.

On February 6, at 3.30am, police broke up a fight at the Mad Cow Tavern where Christian was involved in an “altercation”, yelling and swearing loudly.

He was arrested and entered into a bail agreement to avoid the Safe Night Precinct.

But on July 17, CCTV footage captured Christian trying to get into the Heritage Hotel.

Magistrate Ken Taylor said Christian, who had a young son, should review his priorities. He was fined $350 and no conviction was recorded.
