1923 LEE KUAN YEW Singapore Prime Minister

Lee is recognised as the founding father of modern-day Singapore. He was one of the founders of the People’s

Action Party, which has ruled Singapore continuous­ly since independen­ce. Lee was Singapore prime minister from 1959 until 1990.

1924 LAUREN BACALL American actor

Bacall was a model before starting her film career at the age of 19. She starred in movies alongside stars including Humphrey Bogart (her husband), Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable. She appeared with John Wayne in his final film, The Shootist, at Wayne’s request.

1925 BB KING American musician

King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and is considered one of the most influentia­l blues musicians of all time. He preformed tirelessly throughout his career.

1948 KENNEY JONES English musician

Drummer Jones is best known for his work in the groups Small Faces, Faces and The Who. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Small Faces/faces.

1952 MICKEY ROURKE American actor

Rourke was an amateur boxer in his teenage years, but turned his hand to acting with a string of roles in the 1980s. In 1991, he retired from acting and became a profession­al boxer. But he gave up the gloves in 1994 and returned to acting.

1956 DAVID COPPERFIEL­D American magician

Born David Seth Kotkin, Copperfiel­d took his stage name from the Charles Dickens novel of the same name. His career has spanned more than five decades, with Copperield once described by Forbes magazine as the most commercial­ly successful magician in history.

1964 MARY COUSTAS Australian actor

Born in Melbourne, Coustas is best known for her stereotypi­cal GreekAustr­alian character Effie. She collected a Logie Award for Most Popular Comedy Personalit­y in 1993.
