St Joey’s 100 years
A SPARKLING dinner was held for 200 guests to celebrate the Centenary at St Joseph’s Church on the weekend of July 24-25. The celebrations started on Saturday night with a sit-down dinner for 200 guests with speeches. During this festivity there was an address from Fr Terry Lyons who was a Parish Priest during the 80s as well as a video address from Fr Mick Peters who was a part of the Parish for 23 years. Sr Carmel King spoke of her association with the Parish as a Sister of Mercy. A video was shown of interviews with longstanding Parishioners and with the younger generation including students from both St Joseph’s and St Patrick’s. On Sunday morning Bishop Tim Harris, Fr Terry Lyons and Fr Siby Sebastian MCBS celebrated the Centenary Mass where a drone was used to photograph the congregation on the Church steps for future generations.
