Close calls on the rise

-

A JUMP in near misses at rail crossings has sparked a safety reminder ahead of school holidays.

Queensland Rail spokesman Jim Benstead said close calls were up almost 10 per cent. More than 80 near miss incidents were recorded across regional Queensland compared to just 74 the year before.

“As the school holidays begin, we often see more people on the roads ... so it’s timely to remind road users to pay attention to the signs and signals in place for everyone’s safety.”
