Random stop led to charge

-

A DRIVER who could not contain his nerves when police pulled him over for a random breath test led officers straight to a stash of drugs and cash he had on board, it’s alleged.

About 8pm on Thursday, police were conducting random breath tests at the intersection of Fulham Rd and Mill Dr and pulled over a man driving a car.

His vehicle was stopped, but the 41year-old driver started behaving suspiciously.

O f f i c e r s searched the vehicle and found 235g of marijuana, 0.65g of cocaine and more than $40,000 cash.

Police body camera footage shows officers pull the cash and drugs out of plastic shopping bags and place them on the bonnet of a car.

Wads of cash were wrapped up in plastic and marijuana was stored in airtight packaging.

The items were seized and the man was arrested.

The Oonoonba man has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence and unlawful possession of restricted drugs.

He will face court on October 1.
