Apprentice of the Year
Brodyee Filleul of Reef Coast Constructions
Twenty-two-year-old apprentice Brodyee Filleul rounded out a stellar night for the Reef Coast Constructions team after taking home Apprentice of the Year.
Rob Rule was all praise for his apprentice after the win, saying he possessed an excellent attitude to his work.
“From his commencement, Brodyee has always understood the values of Reef Coast Constructions with neatness and quality of workmanship a necessity,” Rob said.
“He constantly strives to improve his ability and knowledge of, not only his trade but the building industry as a whole.”
Brodyee’s determination to succeed and to constantly grow his skills did not go unnoticed by the judges.
“With an eagerness to learn, Brodyee has a bright future,” the judges said.
Brodyee said he always wanted to be “Bob the Builder”.
“The win means everything to me,”
Brodyee said.
“Winning Apprentice of the Year is an acknowledgment that I have done my job well and that I’ve got a good future in the industry.”
He said he wanted to continue to improve his carpentry skills.
“The plan is to become a builder and maybe go out on my own one day,” Brodyee said.
Rob said Brodyee was eager to expand his knowledge and ability at any opportunity.
“Brodyee is very coachable and learns new tasks quickly,” he said.
“Brodyee not only works well in the carpentry team but contributes to assisting his site supervisor on other trade activities as well.
“His work ethic cannot be challenged and he is a real team player.”
Brodyee has been an important member of the team since the commencement of his apprenticeship and has been involved heavily in all projects that Reef Coast Constructions has been awarded by Master Builders over the past three years.
“Brodyee can work unsupervised and can problem solve when required as well as lead the carpentry team and assist the younger apprentices with their skill development,” Rob said.
“He is a leader among his peers and has developed into a very responsible young man both at work and in his personal life.”
