Post set to deliver 3300 new jobs

AUSTRALIA Post is on a hiring spree ahead of bumper festive season, with thousands of jobs up for grabs across the country.

Some 4000 casual roles have been created as the company prepares for what it expects to be its busiest Christmas ever, with 3300 available. There are positions in parcel and mail processing, customer service, van and truck drivers, and forklift operators, though what jobs are available varies in each jurisdicti­on.

More than 1000 roles will be available in Victoria, 800 in NSW, 690 in Queensland, 380 in Western Australia, 200 in South Australia, 60 in Tasmania, 30 in the Northern Territory, and 30 in the ACT. All vehicle-related jobs require a valid licence, and no experience is necessary for parcel and mail processing positions.

Post and we’re on the lookout for people to join us and help deliver and process record volumes across the country,” Australia Post executive general manager of People and Culture, Sue Davies, said.

An additional 1600 roles are also available, including permanent and fixed-term positions and a mix of part- and full-time roles.

A recent report by Power Retail forecasts Australian­s will splash billions of dollars online shopping in the lead up to Christmas.
