Mill’s wet weather woes

-

PROSERPINE Mill continued to feel the effects of wet weather in a second week of below budget figures for Wilmar Sugar.

Cane supply manager Tony Marino reported an increase on the previous week’s figures, with about 75,3000 tonnes of cane crushed for the week ending September 11 – up from 24,300 in week 10 of the 2021 season.

Commercial Cane Sugar,

CCS, recovered from 14.37 in week 10 to 14.79 – just above budget.

The highest CCS sample was 16.68 from a rake of fourth ratoon Q208 in the Kelsey Creek Productivity District.

School holidays have started, so Mr Marino said it was especially important for parents, carers and teachers to remind children about the dangers of playing on or around the cane rail network.
