MAGUIRE SPARED THE AXE

EMBATTLED Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has been granted an 11th-hour stay of execution.

The Tigers board produced a stunning backflip yesterday when it decided to let Maguire see out the final year of his contract in 2022.

Maguire was expected to be the first major casualty of the NRL offseason.

Instead, he has been tasked with overseeing a massive bloodletting at Concord.
