- DAVID AIDONE

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to travel to New York for their first public trip since stepping back from royal duties, while on the other side of the Atlantic Kate Middleton showed her sporty side with a daring spot of abseiling.

Harry and Meghan will attend Global Citizen Live in Central Park on the weekend to discuss the importance of achieving global vaccine equity. Earlier this year, the pair acted as campaign chairs of Vax Live – a fundraising concert put on by Global Citizen that raised more than $2m to buy Covid-19 jabs for those in poorer nations.

It also marks a return to work for the pair since the birth of their daughter Lilibet in May, but their trip won’t be strictly business.

Friends told the e New York Post the duke e and duchess can’t wait t to explore the Big Apple in the “romantic fall”.

Meanwhile, Kate showed her adventurous side as she visited the RAF Air Cadets’ Windermere Training Centre in the Lake District.

The duchess, who is Honorary Commandant of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, tried out abseiling and mountain biking.

Itelouwa Odipe, Odipe 13, 13 said he spoke to her at the top of the drop.

“She was about to abseil and I was next in line behind her so she asked me if I wanted to go before her. I was a bit scared so I said no,” he told The Independent.

“I think she was very kind,” the boy added.

“Even though she is a royal highness she still does things normal humans do.”
