My text regarding protests was printed on Monday the 23rd. My text received 2 rebukes and comments. Yes, at that point, I was speaking about protests over lockdown, now we have protest about being forced to vaccinate which I might add I don’t agree with even though I am waiting on my second shot. Do these types of protests actually achieve anything? If so can someone tell me what? JB 4812

Policelink just like most other Queensland government agencies bloody useless when you ring them. LEE CONDON

I have the answer for the anti-vax protests. Arm the police with dart guns to dispense the vaccine.

Well Done to Dametto and Phil Thompson regarding the truly awful case that did not meet community expectations! Keep up the pressure to the QLD attorney general. JR, 4810

So a relative unknown will take on Phil Thompson. Looks like Labor has finally given up and realised they’re on the nose, their brand is completely shot with the 3 state MPS still doing absolutely nothing on crime.

MAL, MUNDINGBURRA

John Mellion, Kelso. In your letter on Wednesday you mentioned that it should be asked how much money the State Govt and local council contributed to projects Phillip Thompson has been involved in, perhaps we could ask what has happened to the $195 million Annastacia Palaszczuk opted to fund alone for the Haughton pipeline stage 2 after telling Phillip and the

federal govt she was rejecting their money? RON KELSO

Re letter and text of 22/9/21 about Police Link, obviously everyone’s idea of what is a triple zero emergency is different. I agree it can be frustrating when all you want to do is speak to a human, but instead get an automated response. Perhaps the powers that be can have it upgraded to make it more user friendly. Unfortunately, police resources are not endless and I presume they are hoping people will only call triple zero when it is an urgent matter. I actually had reason to call triple zero this week as my front door was smashed in and I woke to a figure at my bedroom door. The police who attended that night (from Kirwan Station) and the following day (from Forensics) were wonderful and very kind, while also providing helpful advice to me. Oh, and not to forget the police dog and handler. A big thank you to them, and in fact to all police, who often do a thankless task under difficult circumstances. ROSLYN, TOWNSVILLE Nick Dametto is trying to pull the same dumb stunt with the Ingham bypass as the KAP did with VAD. “Not one day more of planning” until the Gairloch washaway is completed? Why not both? Most of us can walk and chew gum at the same time, Nick.

STEVE, BELGIAN GARDENS

The police officer who smuggled his daughter over the border should be sacked and prosecuted.
