RUBBING SHOULDERS WITH THE GREATS

- TRUDY BROWN

SIBLING band Homegrown have performed for the first time in the US since their move in June, opening for the Jonas Brothers.

Last week the trio announced they were playing Thursday and Friday nights at the Firstbank Ampitheater, in Franklin, Tennessee, opening for Kelsea Ballerini and the Jonas Brothers in the Remember This Tour.

They hit the stage both nights, posting messages on social media thanking everyone involved for helping them to live a dream.

“The last two nights have been so amazing, thank you so much to the Jonas Brothers and Joe Jonas for having us open the Nashville shows,” one post said. “And a big thank you to our incredible team.”

Siblings Katelyn, Liam and Kasey O’donoghue flew to Nashville three months ago where they were hoping to continue working with songwriters to build material for an album.

The trio said they were excited to be playing alongside Lanie Gardner, Sophia Scott and Jordan Mcgraw, not to mention the headline act.

There was plenty of support for the trio from their Charters Towers home.

“So excited for you all, amazing job you three are doing in the US. Making us all proud back home,” Clare Warn said.

In June, Liam said the work that had gone into getting the band this far was “pretty crazy”.

He said the move to the US had followed plenty of knockbacks and successes, but they had already seen the big difference a trip to the US had made for them two years ago.

“Country music is so big over there (in Nashville). It’s so mainstream,” he said.
