REVELLERS WILL PACK STREETS

-

FLINDERS St in the Townsville CBD will transform into a food and party zone for the double-header rugby union feast on Saturday.

Mayor Jenny Hill said she expected the two games at the stadium to be a sell-out and Flinders St to be packed with revellers before and after the games for Townsville Eats.

“This is the Championship Eats for the rugby, which I think is a great theme,” Cr Hill said.

“We will be closing the street and there will be activities, all the food trucks and all the restaurants in and about the CBD have been invited in.

“I am really hoping we will begin the party here at 2pm on Saturday.

“So you can drive in and catch a bus if you want to have a few drinks and not worry about driving home.

Come on in, get some food, get some entertainment before you head off to the 5pm game between the Springboks and the All Blacks.”

Cr Hill said she hoped after the games people would return to the CBD to celebrate.

“I am hoping everyone will come back into this precinct and have a bit of fun and party on,” she said.

Flinders St will be blocked from Denham St to Stanley St.
