CONCERT IS IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS
AFTER the heartbreak of being postponed twice due to Covid, the Neck of the Woods Festival finally hits the stage on Saturday.
In a change of venue this year the chilled-out festival will grace the picturesque Anderson Gardens with Ball Park Music the headline act.
Event organiser Nicole Cross from Neighbourhood Sessions said the event was cancelled last year and also in July this year when border closures meant several performers could not travel to Townsville.
“We are finally here and I am feeling very positive about this one,” Ms Cross said.
“It is a family friendly music festival, which we are really proud of. We have always been about making music and live music accessible to people of all ages.
“The festival is definitely one of the biggest music events to come through North Queensland for quite some time considering how hard it has been recently with Covid.”
She said they were excited about the new venue at
Anderson Gardens. “We were out at the Pinnacles past the dam, which was great for camping, but this year because we are not having a camping festival it is in Anderson Gardens, which is an incredibly beautiful place.”
She said the entertainment line-up was a mixture of local and touring acts.
“This is something we’re always passionate about doing, is placing our local talent here on the same lineup as the more established touring acts.”
Ms Cross said gates would open at the Gulliver St entrance at 1pm and the festival would go until 10.30pm.
“We have got a dedicated kids area with workshops and there are also yoga classes but most excitedly we have the festival headlined by Ball Park Music.
“The festival has a relaxed family vibe.
“It is really spread out and it is not like a normal music festival where you are jammed in like sardines.
“Think picnic rugs, food trucks and really awesome live music.”
Youth tickets are $75, adult $85, and kids 12 and under are free.
