NSW welcomes students
NSW plans to accept international students again, with a quarantine trial to operate before the end of the year.
The state government hopes 500 fully vaccinated students will be able to board chartered flights to Sydney as part of the trial.
The students will have to pay for their airfare and quarantine in a building in Sydney that has been “retrofitted” to meet Covid-safe standards.
The building can house up to 650 students and has been approved by NSW Health and police.
The students will need to be fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by TGA: Astrazeneca, Pfizer or Moderna.
It means students who have been vaccinated with other types of coronavirus vaccines will not be eligible.
“They will need to be doublevaccinated with a vaccine that has already been deemed to be adequate and effective,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Friday.
“That’s just the way it is.”
