TWISTS AND TURNS ON ROAD TO MILESTONE

- SAM FLANAGAN

IT’S been 10 years since the world’s most famous motorcycle rolled into town, and the man who brought it here is reliving a decade he describes as a “wild ride”.

Brent Storey established Suncity Harley-davidson in October 2011 with his father Marc.

Now the sole owner of the business, Mr Storey took a walk down memory lane to recount his time with the store.

“It’s been awesome, it’s been a wild ride,” Mr Storey said.

“There have been some crazy stories. We’ve had people who have been returned servicemen and it’s been their saving grace, people who had worked their whole life for a Harley and we’ve done some crazy custom builds that have won national shows.

“Every week we’re doing something pretty cool.”

Mr Storey said the business had seen “some really tough days in

Townsville”, but as of late it’d been doing really well.

“Economically it was hard for the market to grow when Townsville was in decline, but the past two years sales have been up, which is really an indicator of the community.”

Suncity Harley-davidson is set to sell its 1000th Harley-davidson within days of its 10th birthday.

The business is having a special party at its shop on October 16 for customers and the public.
