Townsville snapper wins major award

A STUNNING photo of a Queensland green sea turtle has taken out the top award in a national photo competition. Hannah Le Leu snapped the hatchling cautiously surfacing for air off Heron Island as a sky full of hungry birds circle above for The Nature Conservancy’s photography contest. Townsville photographer Harrison Warne took out the wildlife category with his entry The Dragon and the Hopper (right), showing the moment an Eyrean Earless Dragon is joined by a grasshopper on a hot rock in western Queensland.
