Video of scare by crocodile

- SAM FLANAGAN

THE Townsville man behind a viral crocodile attack video has opened up on the “undies check moment” which left family and friends “wetting themselves laughing”.

Alex Cvetanovic and his son Charlie, 9, were riding their bikes along the bank of the Ross River in Annandale when they came across a freshwater crocodile.

Mr Cvetanovic decided he wanted to get closer to the resting beast.

“I was going in for a photo and almost got a chomp taken out of me (laughs),” Mr Cvetanovic said.

“I was thinking ‘I hope I don’t spook it’, I didn’t expect the tables to turn on me.

“I think you heard what went through my mind, it was an absolute undies check moment. It was too much dental work for my liking.

“I actually approached a second time after I took off, clearly I’m a slow learner.”

Mr Cvetanovic, a New Zealander who works as a paediatric chiropractor in Mundingburra, moved to Townsville a few months ago and admitted he was still getting used to the wildlife.

“I’d never seen a croc before,” he said.

“It was a beautiful day, we saw some wallabies and geese and it (the crocodile) was the last thing we expected to see.”
