Dog meat in dog house

-

SEOUL: South Korean President Moon Jae-in has said the time may have come to ban the eating of dog meat, a practice that is increasingly at odds with the country’s growing number of pet owners.

In a meeting with his Prime Minister at which animal welfare policies were discussed, Mr Moon suggested that a ban could be announced in the next few days.

“Hasn’t the time come to prudently consider prohibiting dog meat consumption?” he reportedly said.

Dog meat has been commonly eaten in the country, but younger South Koreans want it to be banned.
