Townsville Bulletin

What the heck do we need a concert hall in Townsville for? What's wrong with the civic centre, entertainment centre, sports stadium, old smiles stadium and new country bank stadium. And 300 days of sunshine for beach concerts. MICHAEL SPALDING IN DOUGLAS

I can’t believe the stupidity of politics. $100M for a concert hall which will benefit a small percentage of residents instead of spending it where originally budgeted on the pipeline, which benefits 100% of the community. Mr Thompson says he will work for all his constituents but by this action undoubtedly shows he is only interested in politics not his constituents. COMMON SENSE AITKENVALE

Here we go again people from the south coming to Queensland and wanting daylight saving. The people of Queensland have spoken we don’t want it or need it. If you want daylight savings go to NSW Or Victoria. WAYNE 4813

Qld migration boom could spark a fresh debate on daylight saving TB 28th Sept. Those from the deep South are welcome but don’t come here and tell us how to live and what we should have, it’s always the region’s that get shafted in these debates. W WENCK, CURRAJONG.

Jenny Hill, the 8 million in ratepayers’ money you have already put aside for Lansdown is already absurd. Now you’re promising more

ratepayers dollars to this project without a commitment from the State Labor Government. I suggest you lobby your mates down south or do they no longer have faith in this project? JR 4810.

Peter V’landys says that if needed the NRL Grand Final will be moved to Townsville, stating its imperative that the final be allowed crowds. Really, Mr V’landys, so should family funerals and weddings. RON KELSO.

Nice of Jenny Hill to consider using ratepayers’ money to pay for her pet project Lansdown Precinct. That must explain why Council, without notice, ditched the lawnmowing voucher system which helped elderly ratepayers. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. PATRICIA 4812

This stupid socialist state pigheadedness has got to stop now. As Scott Morrison said, and I agree, that once the magic number of 80% is reached, all borders should be lifted. Stop moving the goalposts to 90% etc. The voting public at large, are getting heartily sick of this stupid carry on. Open all borders by Christmas. D. BILTON W /END

Well done the people at the stadium for the footy on Saturday night. Great event. Also thanks to the lovely family sitting beside me when I tried to apologise for being very noisy during the game. She said please don’t be sorry because that passion of the game is why we should bring children here. Bill Kirwan
