PENRITH TO RIVALS: GET YOUR KIKS ELSEWHERE

- FATIMA KDOUH AND PETER BADEL

PENRITH powerhouse Viliame Kikau has declared he wants to stay at the Panthers in a huge coup for the club ahead of Sunday‘s NRL grand final against South Sydney.

It comes as Penrith CEO Brian

Fletcher confirmed the club was working to find the salary cap space to meet Kikau’s asking price of about $800,000 a season.

“We are very confident Viliame will be staying. He is very happy here and he isn‘t off-contract until next year, so that gives us time to work through our salary cap and put an offer to keep Viliame at the club,” Fletcher said.

Kikau’s signature will be one of the most sought after from November 1, when the backrower officially comes on the market.

Kikau, who is contracted until the end of season 2022, has already been linked to clubs including St George Illawarra and former club North Queensland.

But Kikau said staying at the foot of the mountains was his preference.

“My focus is at the club and I want to play for this club. We have a great crew of brothers here,” he said.
