Man spits out clip seal bags in arrest

WHEN police arrested a man on a North Queensland road for a routine driver’s licence check, they never expected that the man would spit out a nasty surprise.

Officers pulled over the man about 9.30pm on Monday in Charters Towers for a licence check. He allegedly got out of the Suzuki Vitara and approached police.

Police saw the man had items in his mouth and asked that he empty the contents of his mouth, and the man allegedly spat out several clipseal bags.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug, possess anything for the use in the commission of a crime and possess drug utensil.

The 34-year-old Charters Towers man was also charged with possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, fail to take reasonable care and precaution in respect of syringe or needle, unlawful possession of a weapon and possess tainted property. He is due to appear in the Charters Towers Magistrate­s Court on October 18.
